Data deletion instructions

This page explains how you can request deletion of personal data associated with the Just Write web application. It is intended to satisfy platform requirements (including Meta/Facebook Login) and to support your rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR.

1. What you can delete

Depending on your role, personal data may include:

• Your account profile (name, email, avatar) stored for sign-in.
• Books, chapters, and related content you created as an owner.
• Comments, questionnaire answers, and other beta-reader data tied to your account.
• Authentication linkage data required for OAuth or email sign-in.

2. Delete your own content in the app

If you are signed in as the owner of a book, you can delete that book from the Books list or book page where the app provides a delete control. Deleting a book removes associated content from this service according to how the operator has configured the database (typically permanent deletion for that book).

3. Request full account or data erasure

There is not always a self-service "delete my entire account" button for every deployment. To request erasure of all personal data we hold about you (including account and content where applicable):

1. Send a request from the same email address associated with your account (the one you use to sign in).
2. Use the subject line: Data deletion request — Just Write.
3. Include your display name (if any) and a brief description of what you want removed (for example "delete my account and all books" or "remove my beta comments only").

Send your request to the site operator (the person or organization that runs this website). If you were invited as a beta reader, you may also contact the author who invited you so they can remove access or escalate to the operator.

We will confirm receipt when possible and respond within a reasonable period (typically within 30 days, unless applicable law requires a different timeline). We may need to verify your identity before deleting data.

4. Data you shared via Facebook or Google

You can also disconnect this app from your Facebook account in Facebook settings under Apps and Websites, or manage Google account permissions from your Google Account security settings. Disconnecting may limit future sign-in but does not by itself erase historical data already stored in our database; use the deletion request above for erasure where needed.

5. What we may retain

We may retain certain information where required by law, for legitimate security purposes, or in anonymized form that no longer identifies you.
